The 9U EMW Tribe got their first win of the season this past Sunday (May 16th)
beating a tough Orchard Park team at OP. The final score was 15-11 and came
down to some great defense and pitching to close out the game. The boys were
ready to play and came out aggressive with their bats and jumped out to an early
lead in the first inning to set the tone for the game. This game was highlighted
with some great defensive plays. Nolan Walker was awarded the defensive player
of the game for recording the first unassisted double play of the year. Tyler
Pache who was named offensive player of the game lead the way in the first inning
with a bases clearing double to left center field. The game tightened up in the 5th
and 6th inning as OP continued to battle but the EMW boys showed great
character by staying positive and closed out the game with a strong bottom half of
the 6th inning defensively.
The first win is the hardest one to get but this was a real team effort as all the boys
contributed offensively and defensively. The boys are looking forward to getting
back out onto the field to start their first winning streak. The next game is Sunday
May 23rd at Springville. The current team record is 1-2.
